Before the show even got underway, the big TV screens advertise Rick Springfield's latest adventure for his fans. What are you doing during November 12 - 16th of 2009?How would you like to sail the seas with Rick Springfield and friends? This is his second cruise with fans. All of the footage shows rocking concerts aboard the ship, photo opportunities, Rick running through the halls knocking on everyone's cabin doors, among many other fun times. The show started off with so much energy! Is Rick Springfield really a baby boomer? Mr. Springfield turned 60 August 23. As these baby boomers age, are they really getting younger? Where does all the energy come from? There were more senior citizens dancing in the crowd than younger people. Do they hold a secret that we do not know about?
The age base of fans was incredible. The youngest fan was 9-years-old and the oldest went up to the high 70's. Rick Springfield can bring happiness to any age.
One of his hits “Don't talk to strangers” is a crowd pleaser. Rick goes through the crowd trying to get fans to sing that single line “Don't talk to strangers”. He did not know what he got himself into when he ran across a little 9-year-old girl named Caroline. Caroline was brought on stage and was appearing to outshine Rick! He said “wait a minute, is this the Caroline show or the Rick Springfield show?” The two danced together. Then the band started playing disco music. Rick realized and asked, “did I just hear disco?” What a great memory that is going to be for Caroline.
There will also be lots of memories for the audience. When he sang “Human Touch,” Rick started to crowd surf. I think every human in the room got to touch some part of him, which was very exhilarating! It is so nice to see an entertainer come out and sing with fans, hug them, use their cell phone... interacting with them means a lot.
The show lasted a little over an hour and a half. If you ever get a chance, be one of the fans that go and sing the most famous song in the United States... Jessie's Girl with Rick Springfield.
